3rd Grade Christmas Concert

I'm so proud of my 3rd Graders this year. They sang their hearts out for their Christmas concert in December and performed the best Jingle Bell dance routine for the school. The  show was a big hit with the parents, staff and children.

Music Careers

 Music Career Project   "A CD About ME" 6th -9th Grade Project    This CD project was a big hit with my sixth graders. Each student designed a CD cover  (or jacket) as if it were his/her own debut CD.  The covers needed to include photos, graphics, Art designs or clip art that would make their CD stand out for others to buy.  Next they would  create a song list with at least three song titles that reflected things about their life on the back of the cover. They were allowed to use one popular song title from current artists (with appropriate words and messages in  the lyrics). The song titles the students came up with were  very creative. This CD cover was made with colored typing paper, but my class was  allowed to use other covers such as scrap booking paper. I was able to teach students how to protect their CD's with inexpensive  CD covers. This project allowed me to nicely lead into music careers for my class to explore. I was also able to collect a list of songs that my students love to sing. You could even talk to the class about using technology to learn how to burn their favorite song on a CD. You will have a tangible project to use for grading. Fun Musical Story Lesson

Kindergartens love to hear the story of the Gingerbread Man. This is a great time of year to get your kids singing with you as you tell the story of the Gingerbread Man.  They can sing "run, run as fast as you can, you can't catch me I'm the Gingerbread Man" as you present the story to them.

After the story, I place these pictures on the board for my kindergarten to play the rhythms of the pictures on the drums. They are really good at playing picture words now with 3 and 4 sound syllables.
 My classes love musical stories and can't wait to sing along with them.  I would love to hear from everyone about other activities they like to do with this story or other musical stories.

December Fun!

So many fun things to do for December music lessons. I like to teach my class about the story of the Nutcracker Ballet in December. We also like to do Christmas Caroling in December.
